Department Adjutant Dub Allen has submitted his resignation effective Friday, March 5th, 2010 for personal reasons. Department Commander Gene McVay has accepted his resignation with gratitude for his service and has appointed a search committee led by Department Chief of Staff Mike Ross to fill the vacancy.

The Commander has directed that this information be given widest dissemination to give all interested persons an opportunity to apply for the position. Resumes will be accepted from now until close of business March 26th.

The Department Adjutant position is full time requiring membership in The American Legion and confirmation by the Department Executive Committee (DEC).

The Presidents' Day goal date found The Department of Arkansas behind by 640 new or renewed members. The Department's goal was 85% and we achieved 81.444%. The Department of Arkansas ranking is number 38th.

The Department is ready to achieve the next goal, the Legion Birthday of 90%! The Department is only 1,540 new or renewed members for 90%. Only nine Posts reached 100% before Dec. 31, 2009.

Please make use of the Post 1000 members who can be transferred to your Post. Send a letter or ernail to Deparhnent Headquarters with your area zip codes for a list of area Post No. 1000 members. Renew and recruit now!

Enclosed are Certifications of Officers' forms for all Posts for the year 2009-2010. Due to HQ two weeks after election.

Each Post, District and Area must connect Ms. May Hooks, 501-612-7735, and give her leads to sell ads for 2010 Convention program. These ad sales help support the convention and other programs. Contact Ms. Hooks today.

The Department of Arkansas has received the Department 90th Anniversary coffee cups. Price is $5.00 each or bulk to Posts for $4.00 each.

All Posts have been mailed Boys State information, make contact with your high schools to help in obtaining high school juniors for the 2010 encampment.
